Curating Comes Full Circle

Morgan Lippert’21 is putting the Museum Studies knowledge and skills gained at Beloit College to work at three cultural organizations.

Morgan is currently the part-time Curator of the Sauk County Historical Society in Baraboo, WI, part-time NAGPRA intern for the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, and part-time NAGPRA Assistant at the Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM).

While a student at Beloit College, Morgan spent a semester at the Newberry Library in Chicago, interned at the Beloit Historical Society, curated two exhibits (one in person and one online), worked as a Museum Assistant in the Logan Museum, and was awarded an Honors Term Award to continue her work in the Logan Museum. These experiences and her History major helped prepare her to be a competitive applicant for these positions.

Morgan shared this photo of her sorting through stacks of “old” NAGPRA inventory records at the MPM. She was pleasantly surprised to find that some of were complied (a couple decades past!) by the Logan’s Director, Nicolette Meister, when she worked as a NAGPRA Assistant at the MPM. It’s true what they say, the museum world is indeed a small world!
